The Sitka area in Southeast Alaska has some of the most pristine streams and bays in the entire world. Most of the streams are small systems that drain lakes, many of which are inhabited by all five species of Pacific salmon, Dolly Varden char, Cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, and steelhead. The Forest service manages most streams as low impact areas, meaning you won’t see a lot of anglers or trash.
Each year I’m allotted a few exclusive trips on a couple of most beautiful small rivers in Southeast Alaska. I prefer to fly fish most of these streams, but I am also content with casting spinners or jigs. Anglers may choose to take one day out of their saltwater fishing trip to fish one of these streams or spend all three camping in one of the many secluded bays at the mouth of the rivers. I encourage catch and release and a low impacting camping.
If you’re interested in camping, I also offer drop offs to many of the Forest Service cabins in our areas. Guides are not allowed to stay at these cabins for their guests, so you’re in for a true Alaskan experience. If you choose to go this route please call for more details on freshwater fishing and camping.
